Usana Health Sciences, based in West Valley City, UTAH, is one of the few network marketing companies that has stood the test of time. They have been in business for nearly 20 years. Usana was started by Dr. Myron Wentz, an immunologist and micobiologist. They opened their doors for business in 1992 and never looked back. This is no doubt a testament to the quality of their products and the success of their distributors.Usana Health Sciences, based in West Valley City, UTAH, is one of the few network marketing companies that has stood the test of time. They have been in business for nearly 20 years. Usana was started by Dr. Myron Wentz, an immunologist and micobiologist. They opened their doors for business in 1992 and never looked back. This is no doubt a testament to the quality of their products and the success of their distributors.
Usana's quality product line can be broken down into three categories: Nutritionals, diet and energy, and skin care. The nutritionals include the Essentials, Optimizers, and digestion/detox products. In the diet and energy category, the Reset meal replacement shakes and protein bars taste fantastic! The energy drinks are also good. In my opinion however, Youngevity's Pollen Burst in their Projoba line tastes better, works much better, and is much better for you. I will be reviewing FDI/ Youngevity in an article next week.
Usana manufactures and packages all their products under one roof. According to them, doing it all in one large state of the art facility guarantees the consistency and potency of their nutritional line. I don't know if I buy that argument but this is for certain. They have been in business as long as they have and have literally millions of satisfied customers because their service and products are great. I don't care if they've been manufactured in an outhouse and assembled in a barn! You just can't make it in business for that long without a lot of integrity and great products.
To join Usana, you must first purchase a business development system for $20. The full version is $49.95. Everyone starts with one business center. Additional centers can be started after graduating to higher levels of the compensation plan. Usana pays its reps using a binary compensation plan. For those less familiar with this type of pay plan, it's really pretty simple. The first two people you sponsor go directly under you, one on your left side and one on your right side. Everyone else goes in under them. The distributors get paid weekly as each side grows. There are six different ways to get paid in Usana, and in this binary, unlike many others, there is no dumping. This is a huge benefit because unused volume carries over to the next week so you don't lose valuable commissions.
In February of 2007, Barry Minkow of the Fraud Discovery Institute distributed a report to the FBI and the SEC claiming that Usana was an illegal pyramid scheme. In my opinion, this is just another example of a quality MLM company being put through the ringer for absolutely nothing. Turns out that after the news, the company's stock plunged from $63 per share to $33 per share. Needless to say, the FBI and SEC found absolutely nothing incriminating during their investigation.
So what's the verdict? Without question, Usana is a great company that has worked out any growing pains long ago. It's products are of top quality, it's pay plan is more than adequate, and it's leaders are extremely competent. For anyone considering joining a nutritional MLM company, Usana Health Sciences should be on their short-list.
