Fear Stalling the Start of Your Online Business? -- 3 Steps to Getting Rid of Those Fears For Good

Ask people why they're scared of starting a business online, and you'll get as many different answers as people you ask ~ probably times ten. This one is afraid of "doing it wrong." That one is afraid of not knowing enough. The next one is afraid of what people will think. And for another one, it's all of the above and more.Ask people why they're scared of starting a business online, and you'll get as many different answers as people you ask ~ probably times ten. This one is afraid of "doing it wrong." That one is afraid of not knowing enough. The next one is afraid of what people will think. And for another one, it's all of the above and more.
I could take those fears apart one by one and tell you why each is a false fear, but the reality of it is, you already know the answers to your fears, don't you. If you pull them out and look at them one by one, you can shoot them down on your own. You don't need me for that.
Believe me, your desire to succeed is strong enough to defeat your fears; if it weren't, you wouldn't still be reading this. And the truth is, fears are like cockroaches: they scatter when you turn on the light. Cool. But we don't just want to scatter them; we want to get rid of them.
No worries.
The light that scatters your fears? Knowledge. Once you know what you need to know, you can take action ~ and action kills fear. Here are three beams of light.
1. Begin at the beginning ~ like the Red King told Alice, it's generally best to begin at the beginning. He was talking about telling a story, but the principle applies to every endeavor. If you begin at the beginning, you don't have to go back later and do those things you ought to have done already.
2. Focus on what's right in front of you ~ a character in the television series M.A.S.H., explained his method for being at the top of his profession, and his services therefore in great demand, this way. "I do one thing at a time. I do it very well. And then I move on."
That idea has always stayed with me, I think because it makes such good sense. If you keep your focus on the task at hand, you won't become overwhelmed by all the steps that follow and get discouraged. So stay focused on what you're doing right now, get that done to your satisfaction, and then you can move on to the next thing.
3. Remember that success breeds success ~ remember when you learned how to ride a bike? or when you learned how to drive? Until that first successful ride, you kept going over and over in your mind how many times you fell over on your bike or how you kept killing the engine by starting out in the wrong gear or hitting the brakes too hard. We do the same thing when we're trying to learn anything.
Stop that.
According to some very wise people, "where focus goes, energy flows" ~ and where energy goes it creates more of the same, so why would you want to focus any energy on your so called failures? Focus your mind, and your energy, on your successes, and only look back in order to see how far you've come. Be proud of your progress, remember your successes, and you will inevitably create more of them.
