A product capture web page is an important part of any Affiliate marketing campaign. It is the web page where people go when they are interested in reading more about the product you're selling. It is also the place where they go to purchase the product. Capture pages are offered to Affiliate marketers that are made by the merchant company. When you sign up for the Affiliate program, you are given access to various tools to help with your promotion, including an affiliate link to the merchant's product page. While it may seem beneficial to you to use this link as often and for as long as possible, you need to understand that it is better to make your own unique capture page instead.

Unfortunately, after a while and you learn more about what techniques work for you, you will gain the knowledge that you need to create unique capture pages of your own so that you don't have to rely on the one that you are provided.

Blogs and websites are not like a capture page. Blogs and websites are designed with multiple pages of information about who you are and different things about your product. A capture page is much different. While it provides information about the product, it also gives customer testimonials and a variation of the sales pitch. Additionally, although websites and blogs can provide opportunities to purchase the product, they are only links to product pages. The real purchase opportunity is in the capture page.

A unique capture page provides you with a better ability to remain consistent with visitors. Basically, you work hard to establish a relationship and trust. This means that you are writing your own emails for email marketing, blog posts for extra information and feedback, and submitting informative articles to crucial sites that help promote your website. Your readers have learned that you have a specific tone- a voice. They get acclimated to this and look for this same voice in everything with your name on it. When you create your own capture page, you have the ability to maintain this same voice, letting your readers now that it is you and not something commercialized.

It is important to understand how bad using duplicate content is. When you read about avoiding duplicating content for search engine requirements, you should know that this means more than just reusing content of your own or someone else. This also applies to reusing content that may be provided by the merchants that you are signed with. It is common for merchants to provide their affiliates with content that can legally be reused to promote the product, but no one really considers how much this content is used by others. Capture pages fall into this category as well.

It is not uncommon to find templates and other tools to help you in the creation of your capture pages. If you choose a template to use, make sure the content you add is original. Templates should only help you with the placement of text, graphics, and other such parts.

There are definitely some benefits to using the merchant's capture pages, but only temporarily. Unless you don't intend on promoting the product for a long period of time, it makes sense to learn how to create your own unique capture pages. Since Affiliate marketing isn't usually a temporary thing for people who are serious, start learning as soon as you can. The less time that you have to rely on a pre-made page means less time that you are using the same capture page as hundreds of other people.
