The first thing that you need to do immediately is cut as many expenses as possible. Depending on your lifestyle this may mean going without cable tv, cutting back on Starbucks, not getting your hair done, or mowing your own lawn.

Second and most important, do not panic. No matter how hard things may seem, you must believe that everything will work out. Your belief and your faith will get you through difficult times. If you believe in a higher power, trust that your needs will be met.

"He who has faith has... an inward reservoir of courage, hope, confidence, calmness, and assuring trust that all will come out well - even though to the world it may appear to come out most badly." -B.C. Forbes

Do not give up. With every no you are in fact closer to your yes. You may send out hundreds of resumes and have to go on a hundred or more interviews before you actually secure a job. Just keep a positive attitude and remember... finding a job is a job in itself these days.

Consider lowering your standards in terms of positions and titles. In this economy you may have to apply for jobs that are lower on the totem pole than what you are accustomed to. If you were a regional manager, perhaps you should also apply for jobs as a district manager. Yes, the pay is less, but at least it is a job. You could have to settle for a part time position or do odd jobs to make ends meet until you find something full time. The important thing is that you bring in an income.

It is proven that millionaires are produced in times of recession. If you find yourself not able to get a job after months of trying, create one for yourself. This may be the perfect time and opportunity to start your own business.
