What Might Be Holding You Back From Success

When we feel our potential is being stifled, we try to determine the cause. Though our first instinct is to identify external limits on the personal, monetary, and career areas of our life, we should look a bit closer to home. Our own fear can make a fulfilling life an impossibility and when this fear is present in the areas where our dreams focus, it can have a severe impact.

When we feel our potential is being stifled, we try to determine the cause. Though our first instinct is to identify external limits on the personal, monetary, and career areas of our life, we should look a bit closer to home. Our own fear can make a fulfilling life an impossibility and when this fear is present in the areas where our dreams focus, it can have a severe impact.

Some people want to find the perfect partner in life but are afraid to put themselves out there. They worry that prospective mates may not find them attractive or worth the time. Some have the opposite problem, worrying that others may use them for their looks or money. Either way, these fears prevent people from attracting and keeping a partner they are worthy of having.

An increasing number of people are worried about finances. Prices for everything from soap to cars are steadily increasing and many paychecks are not keeping pace. Some people do not have the luxury of a paycheck, as they are unemployed due to no fault of their own. Every dollar buys less, but we never do anything to improve our status.

If we have a job, it may not be the one we want or deserve. We may be too fearful to apply for a position for which we are qualified. Or, that position may not exist at our current company but we are too scared to look outside those walls and take a chance by applying for positions elsewhere.

This is a lot of fear and it can have a huge negative effect on our lives. Rather than accepting it and eventually letting it overtake us, we should learn from others who were once in our place. They somehow managed to achieve admirable success and we should not hesitate to hear how they did it.
