If you are thinking of opening a home based business, there are several simple tips you should consider.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

When getting a new company off the ground, it is easy to get bogged down in the details. Keep your home based business as simple as possible in the early stages with the thought that you can always make changes as your business grows.

Two is not always better than one.

Be careful when forming partnerships.  While four hands might seem better than two when you are just getting started,  they can become a burden over time if you are not careful.  Make sure any partner you chose brings value to the table.

Do not work for free.

Late payments are one of the fastest ways to sink a home based business. It is crucial to remember you are not a bank so you should not act like one. There is nothing wrong with asking for money before a product or service is provided.  Another useful tool is offering a discount if payment is received up front. Set a deadline for special discounts to be effective.

Being frugal is a good thing.

Breaking the budget is a key erroneous practice of many business owners running a business from home. When buying office furniture, go for second hand merchandise. That will save money which can be used to replenish your capital investment and cut down potential losses should the business fail.

Leave time for sales.

Don't use prime business hours filling out forms that can be done during a slower time of the day.  Your primary focus must be sales because that's the business you're in---- learn to use your energy wisely.

Don't grow too fast.

Growing too big too fast is also not advantageous when you are running a home based business from home unless you can handle the expansion meticulously. Don't grow into a business empire that will give you a headache.

Zero Cost. Zero Obligation.
