If you're like most people, you've probably thought about starting a blog -- assuming you're not already owner of the more than 100 million blogs currently in existence. And whether you own your own blog or have simply only given it thought, then you've probably also thought of it's potential source of income. If you're like most people, you've probably thought about starting a blog -- assuming you're not already owner of the more than 100 million blogs currently in existence. And whether you own your own blog or have simply only given it thought, then you've probably also thought of it's potential source of income.
There are several different ways to go about turning your passion for writing into online money, but I'm going to focus on just two. In particular is one method that is likely to be the easiest money to make in that pretty much anybody can do it regardless of skill set.
When you enter the realm of online money making, the first thing you must realize is that visitors equal money. And that is perhaps any popular blog's main source of income. When you have loads of visitors to your site, it's all about selling advertising space.
The simplest way to monetize your site is by joining an ad network (think Google Adsense) and displaying their ads in a prominent location on each of your webpages. But the real goal is to build up to millions of monthly visitors. Sites and blogs of this size are able to dismiss the middleman and negotiate directly with advertisers, thereby keeping all the profits for themselves.
Not getting too many visitors right now? Don't worry. There is another option. Regardless of how few visitors your blog receives, this second method of blogging for cash will pay you per blog posting. In other words, every time you write a new post, you get paid.
Again, we look to a service network to help connect us with companies that are willing to pay us for each post we write. One of the most well-known networks is PayPerPost (clever name, right?) To get paid for your words, simply browse offers and pick the one you like.
From there all that's left to do is write a post that includes a link back to the advertiser's website. The beauty is that you don't have to compromise your blog's theme to get paid. There are so many advertiser offers that you should easily be able to find one with a subject that will fit your blogging style.
Offers are often based on your site's Google PageRank (PR). The higher your PR, the more you can make for each post. I've seen offers for all levels of PR, from PR1 all the way up. You'd be amazed what an advertiser is willing to pay for a link on a PR7 or higher blog!
PR1 sites don't make much, but over time -- as you post on a regular basis -- your ranking will increase and you'll get paid more. Your blog's authority receives a minor bump every time another site links to yours, so ask your fellow bloggers to link to your homepage. The more that do, the higher your authority will be and the more you'll get paid for blogging.
