Is it possible to set up a fully functional ecommerce store selling consumer electronics is a day? Yes, it is, though you might want to give yourself a little more time. Instead of hurrying, I'd advise taking the time to put together a really sound business plan and develop your store idea. However, yes, you can launch a fully functional drop ship/wholesale consumer electronics store on fairly quick notice. Possibly the easiest and fastest is to do eBay, but this article isn't about eBay, though some of the information may be of use to eBay sellers. I suggest two basic approaches that are easily available. First, use a warehouse drop shipping company. Second, and a little more demanding, establish an account with a true wholesale electronics distributor who offers drop shipping services to its clients. Is it possible to set up a fully functional ecommerce store selling consumer electronics is a day? I think the quickest way (though not necessarily the best) to pop an electronics site onto the net is to simply set up an account with a drop ship aggregator who offers an instant storefront that is preloaded with a wide variety of items. Now, I'm not recommending that you necessarily do this. I'm just saying that it's an option for you. It does solve a lot of the back-end logistics for you in the way of order taking, accounting, inventory, and shipping and handling, but you still have to promote and otherwise manage your business. (If this sounds tempting to you, then you may want to think about paying for some of the fancy eBay Store management software. That would also give you an ecommerce store built on a platform with a built-in huge market place and traffic.)
A Warehouse drop shipper is usually a retail company whose business is providing discounted goods to other resellers. They often do this through selling preloaded and designed ecommerce sites. Normally, they stock or arrange access to all inventory, and many of these companies have access to literally thousands of products, all of which they make available through the sort of instant storefront shopping cart they make available. Generally this involves a recurring monthly or yearly membership fee depending on the level of service you require. The drop ship aggregator usually handles all shipping and handling, all accounting and book-keeping, and the collection of sales taxes. Thus, you would not need to worry about have a sales tax permit because the company would collect and remit all such taxes.
The 5 businesses listed beneath are all legitimate decline ship firms with fairly high identify recognition to the World Wide Web: (1) Megagoods (2) Doba (3) Dropshipdesign (4) Shopster (5) Dropshipdirect (6) Ezdropship (7) Inventory Source. This is only a sampling of the kinds of businesses available to you. The examples I've listed each offer a slightly different set of services, but each would allow you to put up a storefront on the Internet the same day as you sign up, depending on your needs.
Google any of the names above or put ".com" at the end of the name and the website should pop up in the listings. Be sure to read the terms of service for each site so that you understand exactly how they work and what their obligations to you as a customer are. Each of these sites is very different from one another and offer different sorts of services.
The second strategy I have to help you get started is to set up an account with WYNIT or some other wholesale distributor who offer drop shipping. Again, put ".com" after the name and it will pop up in Google. WYNIT is one of the largest wholesale distributors of consumer electronics in the United States. It is a true wholesale company and will require proof of your sales tax permit. In order to set up an account, you will need to follow the instructions on the site and fax or send in the account applications. I will add that it is important you follow the instructions on the site. Do not waste their time with questions that are easily answered on the site. Another professional resource is Petra Electronics. They are also a legitimate wholesale distributor who drop ships.
Using IMCE as an example, once you have successfully met their requirements for account set-up, IMCE will ship inventory either directly to you or drop ship under your company name at no additional cost. That is, all you pay for the drop ship service is the cost of shipping. Again, IMCE is a true wholesale firm and as such does not bother with selling website packages or charging recurring monthly membership fees. Responsibility for your site rests entirely upon you as IMCE and most other true wholesaler only provide you with inventory.
