Business Opportunities - Membership Websites and Retention

One of the most lucrative business opportunities is running a membership website. However, one of the most important areas of concern for you as the owner of such a website is member retention. However, while this is without doubt quite a problem for you, your members have a different focus and that is, quite frankly a perception of value for their time and or money.

Creating huge value is very important if you want to get members and keep those members. People want to feel like they have received significantly more than they paid for. While they might be satisfied with a basic level of content, its often true that you can do a little more work to give a much higher impression of value. Word of mouth is the most powerful advertising medium.

There are a couple of ways to increase this perception and one is the offer of special bonuses. These can be either announced or unannounced. Pleasant surprise offerings can be a way of letting your members know that you care. These bonuses can be resell rights or PLR products that you picked up on the side (hands off for you!). These are quite inexpensive for you to buy, but your members will be thrilled with them!

Other things one might do is offer more than one format of content. We are not saying that all content needs to be in audio, video and text -- though that wouldn't be a bad idea, lol.  For example, you could create an article, a video, and audio that all get the same basic information across, but in different formats. This is a good thing to do because you'll be hitting on a variety of different learning styles. Member A might like to watch videos, while Member B Prefers to read text. Your chances of giving user satisfaction is much higher this way.

A great way to make this as easy as possible is to start with video. From there, you can extract the audio. It is also possible to get a rentacoder or guru.com writer to transcribe the audio track into text and now you have 3 different medium forms from the one source.

Another thing you can do is make sure your site looks professional. While you might be able to get away with a very basic site, doing simple things like adding graphics and having a ni ce layout can go a long way to giving a great impression of value. The old saying goes that "you shouldn't judge a book by its cover," but we all know that people end up doing that anyway. A great looking site is always a joy to explore, and is something that you put forth the effort to create for all of your business opportunities.
