I am sure you are ready to leap into your business opportunities, and get your Google Adwords account rolling become you have learned about PPC Management and you believe you have the best idea for something to sell. You need to reign in your gung-ho attitude (this attitude is awesome but save it) and settle down to do some in-depth research about the products. You will discover that a little extra research will save you quite a bit of money. If you do not do your research and start doing PPC blindly then you will waste your time, which in the end is a waste of money when you could be doing something that was more productive.

 

Sit down and do some looking--analyze how many consumers are looking for that particular product online?

 

You want to attract people who are shopping, rather than traffic that is just looking for information. It is important for the traffic to translate into sales. You will have to accept that you may end up trying to sell a completely different product entirely once you have done your research. If you want to be successful, you have to be honest with yourself and not fool yourself.

 

Imagine you have the ability to purchase an item at a good price from someone who owns the factory that makes it. You purchase several packages of that item for 50 cents per package. In your travels, you remember seeing that very same item at variety and discount stores selling for between $1.50 and $1.75 for each package. By providing that same item for a lower price than the competition, you will see a big profit immediately. Right? Perhaps.

 

You will need to do some research to see how many consumers are actively searching for taffy to purchase online through Google. While the term taffy may be entered into the Google search engine 450,000 times each month, it may seem like an awesome deal. Sounds like a good deal. Correct? But, hold up... What if you altered the query to "taffy for sale"? If you were looking for places that sell taffy online, isn't that what you would enter? Check and see how often that particular query is entered.

 

Which you will discover, is only about 320 times each month. You will need to crunch the numbers and calculate the number of units you need to sell (subtracted by the cost of each click) to see if this product is indeed something that would be worth your time and effort. Selling taffy, as per our example, would not be an ideal way to earn your living even with the large profit margin on each unit.

 

Thorough research like this can spare you a lot of hassle, trouble, and not to mention, profit loss over the life of your business opportunities. It will also serve as a reality-check. Being well-versed in the particulars of your field may lead you to other venues which would fit your style and goals as well.
